The Ramsey Wind Symphony
Mission Statement and Organization

The Ramsey Wind Symphony is comprised of volunteer musicians (professional and amateur) who combine their talents and services to provide concerts of artistic merit for the benefit of the community and Wind Symphony members.

Performing both within Ramsey and regionally, the group promotes awareness and provides quality music with a symphonic dimension for audiences to enjoy. A primary goal is to be recognized both locally and regionally for excellence in performance of symphonic wind music for the broadest audience possible.

The Ramsey Wind Symphony provides opportunities for qualified individuals to renew, maintain and develop their interests and talents in the performing arts by participating in a positive and uplifting musical environment.

The Ramsey Wind Symphony is the official community band of Ramsey, New Jersey, and is a registered nonprofit organization, recognized by the United States Internal Revenue Service, under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. There are five Trustees. The Wind Symphony is managed by The Wind Symphony Committee, a committed group of members, the conductor, the manager, and the librarians.

The RWS has served Ramsey and surrounding communities for twenty years, playing a wide range of repertoire of traditional and contemporary music for many who would otherwise be unable to access such an experience. The season is comprised of regular Wednesday evening rehearsals, and a series of indoor and outdoor concerts, including an "Annual Young People's" concert, the annual Ramsey Fourth of July Celebration and Ramsey Day (a festive/carnival day celebrating the end of the summer in Ramsey).

The Wind Symphony is supported financially by the Borough of Ramsey, the Ramsey Fine Arts Council (which sponsors all of our concerts in Ramsey) and by Don Bosco Prepatory High School (which provides space and certain equipment for rehearsals and concerts).

The Ramsey Wind Symphony’s focus is on: love of music, craft, enthusiasm, constancy of commitment and effort, the highest possible artistic excellence, and a desire to share the joy of symphonic music. The Wind Symphony strives to create an atmosphere of accessibility within the community, warmth, challenge and encouragement for its participants, and audience. The group’s primary musical approach places special emphasis on classical music within the context of symphonic wind ensemble musical textures, the blending of sound, phrasing and expressive character.

We invite all who love intensely inspiring and expressive live symphonic music to join us in our pursuits.
