Music Director
Charles Yassky, Music Director Charles Yassky has been the Music Director of the Ramsey Wind Symphony since 2007. Mr. Yassky received his Master’s and Bachelor's degrees in Music from the University of Illinois where he studied conducting with Dr. Harry Begian. His clarinet studies were with Herbert Blayman of the Metropolitan Opera. In addition, he has a Master’s of School Administration from Iona College. He has been featured as a conductor and performer in the US, Canada, Europe and Israel and is a published arranger with Universal Editions (Vienna), and Baton Music in the Netherlands. His transcriptions have been performed in the US, China and Europe and as a composer, his theme for ESPN College Football has been broadcast since 1992. Mr. Yassky has led many recording sessions in studios throughout the world and has collaborated with many of today’s outstanding musical artists. He has produced and appeared on numerous albums for Angel-EMI, New World, Arabesque, and Helicon Records and his solo performances from these albums are heard frequently on NPR stations throughout the country. In addition to being known as an adjudicator and guest soloist, Mr. Yassky has taught at the University of Illinois, Baruch College, Bergen Community College and Northern Valley Regional HS in Old Tappan, NJ and is on the music staff at South Orangetown Central School District in Rockland County, NY. | ![]() |
